His homepage on a desktop and on a phone, as it is live, scrolling in step while the facts it carries light beside it.
The cold call David nearly put the phone down on. He runs Rabiu Plumbing and Heating across the Medway towns, and the review he left afterwards tells people to stay on the line if I ever ring them.
The call
David had not asked for it, was not expecting it, and by his own account was at the point where most people hang up on a stranger selling something.
What he had underneath that was a plumbing, heating and gas firm working through Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham, Rainham and Strood, taking jobs further out across the south east and into London when the work warranted it, and answering the calls that come in when nobody planned them.
None of that weight was reaching anyone online.
Eleven at night
Somebody standing under water coming through a light fitting is not reading three pages and weighing up quotes. They are ringing whichever firm looks most likely to pick up, and that judgement gets made on a phone, on the first screen, in roughly the time it takes to scroll once. So the emergency side of his work had to be visible before anything else, and the evidence that he is exactly who he claims to be had to be visible alongside it. He was already Gas Safe registered and already Checkatrade verified, with his own 5.0 from 70 Google reviews behind him. All of it existed and all of it was true, and none of it was anywhere a person in a hurry would ever have got to. That is the test the site was built to pass: a stranger with a bucket under the ceiling, one thumb on the screen, deciding in a few seconds whether this is a firm that will answer.
What went live

The first line has one job, which is to confirm to a worried person that they have landed on the right trade for the thing currently going wrong in their house. His Gas Safe registration is in the line above it, and his own 5.0 from 70 Google reviews sits on the same first screen, because for a stranger deciding whether to let a man through the front door, that rating is the closest thing they have to a word from a neighbour. His Checkatrade Verified badge is in the footer, linked to his Checkatrade profile, for the customer who wants to check it before they ring.
Then there is the part almost no trade site touches. His site takes card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna and Clearpay. A boiler that gives up in February is a bill nobody has budgeted for, and the customer who cannot cover it in one payment usually will not say so, they say they will have a think and then quietly ring round. Putting instalments on the same page they are already stood on takes away the reason to go looking. It is ordinary technology that shops have had for years, and it is still uncommon enough on a plumbing site to be worth putting where a worried customer will see it.

A star service throughout, Cameron reach out as a cold caller offering a website service, As you do you normally end up putting the phone down. However we were able to work together and he’s done a fantastic job. He’s attentive and very responsive. Even the aftercare once the website is completed is great.
